Volunteer Opportunities

Are you looking for ways to learn about city-building, expand your skills, and give back to your community?  My office is always looking for bright, motivated students and volunteers!

Volunteer for evening and weekend events

I host many community events throughout the year which take place on evenings and weekends.  If you live in Ward 21, these are a great way to get out and see what’s going on in the area.  For upcoming events, see the events calendar or sign up for my e-newsletter to learn about these and other volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer in the office

Spend one day a week in the City Hall office and learn about City government, enhance your communication skills, and learn alongside my highly knowledgeable staff.  Volunteers are asked to commit to coming in consistently at least one full day per week for a period of four months.

Student placement

We have hosted placement students from university, college, and even high school programs ranging from Political Science to Urban Studies to Religious Studies over the years.  If you are required to do a placement as part of a course, ask your placement supervisor if your school has an existing agreement with the City of Toronto.  You are welcome to inquire directly with my office as well.

How to apply

Send your resume with a brief cover letter to councillor_mihevc@toronto.ca.  Be sure to identify the type of volunteer work you are interested in, your availability, and why you want to volunteer!

Please note: because of the high volume of requests we receive, in-office volunteer placements are competitive.  However, we do our best to consider and accommodate requests whenever possible.
